About

BC Election 2009 is a resource for the British Columbia 39th General Election to be held on May 12, 2009. The intention of this site is to provide analysis (not news) concerning the projected outcome of the election.

The site is authored by Sacha Peter, who also writes about economic and financial issues on Double Blind. He is also the owner and managing director of Divestor Investments, which provides consulting services in finance/accounting, analysis and public relations.  Sacha is also an elected park commissioner for the Cultus Lake Park Board.

Please note this site is not affiliated with Elections BC. If you wish to contact Elections BC, they can be reached at 1-800-661-8683. Thank you.

Partisan Disclosure

Please be aware that I actively worked on a (federal) Conservative campaign in the 2008 Federal Election; and I am currently a member of the BC Liberal party. I will not be working for a campaign this provincial election, but I will be volunteering some time for the Barry Penner campaign in Chilliwack-Hope; thus my writing about this electoral district and candidate will be limited.

I do not have “insider” information, nor would I write about it even if I had any.

If you feel partisan influence will taint the objectivity of the writing on this site, you are correct. There are other election resources available (I suggest the Wikipedia article on the election) – I will make no claims to write in a “balanced” fashion, although the intention is to be objective. Most political sites on the internet are run by people with partisan influence, so truly non-partisan sources are difficult to find.

The reason why I am giving this disclosure is because I received a couple inquiries on the matter.
