Administrative notes

Posted April 7, 2009 by Sacha Peter - Link
Category: News Comments (5)

I will be removing the comments on the Candidates page (all the comments up to the end of March) since they mainly were about “Candidate X is running here” and other comments of that nature. I will be doing this the night of Tuesday (April 7), so if you wish to archive these comments for whatever reason, feel free to. There’s nothing particularly juicy that I will be removing.

The only other comments I have deleted off the site have been comments that have been massively off-topic. I am generally pleased that threads have not degenerated into partisan slug-fests, especially the recent four comments received about Burnaby-Deer Lake and Peace River North.

I am also re-thinking my concept for the “Swing Seats” page. The 10 seats currently there are based mainly from the 2005 vs. 2009 provincial electoral boundaries change, but this is a backward looking method of picking swing seats, instead of the much more difficult method of selecting seats that will be close when we all see the results the night of May 12, 2009. I will be revamping that page to something a little more elegant than what is there already – but this will likely take place after the writ has been dropped.

I am also looking at the referendum page and have a few creative ideas there, but this will have to wait until the Easter weekend (or the weekend after that) since these ideas are going to involve some mapping work and will be somewhat time consuming. Not helping are personal commitments this month (commitments that are completely unrelated to the provincial election).

    Can you please put links to the REFERENCE pages on the right hand column (on top) so the reader does not have to scroll around searching for the page.

    Thanks

    Glass – can you send me an email?

    I don’t know what you are specifically referring to.

    (April 7, 2009 @ 23:22):

    The reference pages “swing seats”, “referendum page”, etc. where can I find them on the right hand column?

    If they are for reference, then they should be easily accessible.

    But it appears theses pages are only linked through the blog, so there is no easy way to get to these pages lets say in a week’s time.

    Is this clear, or do I need to explain it better?

    Glass,

    The pages are found on the top bar – if you scroll to the very top, you will see below that the following categories:

    * Home
    * About
    * Candidates
    * Platforms
    * Polls
    * Referendum
    * Ridings
    * Swing Seats

    Just curious, what web browser are you using? I only look at the site in IE and Firefox, so if you are using a different browser let me know.

    Ooops, you are right — it was too obvious! I use IE.

    I sort of expected them to be on the right hand colummn like where you have RESOURCES. (maybe it could be repeated here, to make the site more referential and deferential)

    The top column is sort of reserved for things like “About Us”, “Contact Us”, “Mission”, etc.

    Was too obvious – but thanks.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
