Mustel poll has BC Liberals up 16

Posted February 13, 2009 by Sacha Peter - Link
Category: Polls Comments (2)

It looks like that Bill Tieleman (previous post) was fed some bad information – Mustel Group has the BC Liberals up 52% to 36% for the NDP. The Greens polled at 12%. (Mustel Link; Local Link)

The poll was 751 BC residents, with 13% undecided. The survey was from February 2 to 10.

The notable difference is that voter opinion on NDP leader Carole James has solidified somewhat; the “No Opinion” appears to be converting to “Disapproval” slowly.

Jobs and the economy grew even further as the primary concern, with half of this polled identifying this as the major concern, while health took second place at 12%.

This poll, if accurate, is a continuation of the huge blow to NDP chances in the upcoming election. If a 52% popular vote was the outcome in the upcoming election, the BC Liberals would likely cruise to a 65 seat victory.

I would like to see other polling data from other companies in the near future to see if they correspond with Mustel.

Subsequent update: I have updated the Poll charts. By the polling measures, the BC Liberals are doing slightly better than they did in 2005.

As an aside, Mustel’s February, 2005 poll heading into the May, 2005 election showed the Libs with a 6% lead.

And no, I’m not part of any “marketing team”. The “James Bonds” moniker was posted all over the net yesterday. Kind of cheeky, actually. ;)
